TYCHE
Tyche was the Greek goddess of chance, fate and fortune who governed prosperity and destiny. Ancient Greeks believed she was the reason for both the positive and negative unexpected events in their lives.
In Classical Greek mythology, Tyche was the daughter of Aphrodite and Zeus. When she grew up Zeus gave Tyche her magical sandals and asked her to show man two roads of destiny; one which leads to freedom and one which leads to slavery. The road to freedom started of rough, and was difficult to traverse, but after overcoming many obstacles, it became an easy and pleasant road to success. The road to slavery though, begun pleasantly enough, but soon changed to a road full of obstacles which was impassable. Man was free to choose which road to follow.
When ancient Greeks honored Tyche’s beneficial traits, they usually referred to Tyche as Eutychia – her original greek name. Tyche was usually pictured with wings, a regal staff and a crown. In Greek Mythology, Tyche became a symbol of fortune, luck, easiness, chance and success…
